Why is there no laser to remove hair permanently?
Currently, there is no laser that can permanently remove hair. Although laser hair removal can significantly reduce hair growth and density, it does not provide permanent hair removal. The reason for this is that the laser energy is selectively absorbed by the melanin (pigment) in the hair follicle, and it damages the hair follicle structure, preventing new hair growth. However, the laser energy does not affect the hair follicles that are dormant or in the dormant phase of growth, which means that hair can regrow from those follicles.
Moreover, multiple sessions are required to achieve optimal results, and multiple sessions are needed to achieve optimal results because hair goes through different growth cycles, and the laser can only target hair that is in the active growth phase. Typically, it takes several sessions to target all the hair in the active phase, and additional sessions may be needed to target hair that enters the active phase later on.
Additionally, laser hair removal results can vary depending on factors such as skin color, hair color and thickness, and the location of the hair, as well as the type of laser used.
It's important to note that laser hair removal is not recommended for individuals with light hair, as the laser energy is absorbed better by dark hair and not light hair.
